“Suck my dick.” a very simple quote. Straight to the point, no dancing around what you mean. That is what Kyrie Irving said to a fan in Milwaukee after the Celtics started their season 0-2. Since these words have left Kyries mouth the Celtics have won 12 straight games including a nail biter last night without Irving. Boston currently has the best record in the league with no real signs of slowing down. It was a very rocky start to the year, losing their star free agent signing five minutes into the first game of the year but the Cs have overcome adversity in this young season and have high hopes. In my opinion the Cavs, even though they aren’t even in the playoff picture currently, have the best shot to going back to the Finals. The Celtics will slow down and Cleveland will start to put some wins together, that’s just a fact. If the last fourteen years has taught us anything, it’s taught us that LeBron doesn’t miss the playoffs.
Trade rumors are also flying around Boston about sending some younger talent (Brown, Tatum, etc.) to New Orleans for Anthony Davis and if that were to happen the Celtics can make a serious run at the Warriors for the title. Personally, Jaylen Brown is off limits for me. Not knowing how the money would work out if they sent NO Tatum, Rozier/Smart and a pick for Davis I do that every day of the week and twice on Sunday BUT do the Pelicans accept that? Does Trader Danny want to mess with the chemistry on this team? I imagine that Ainge wouldn’t trade Tatum since he said he would take the SF first overall in last years draft. I also doubt the Pelicans do any deal without at least one of Brown and Tatum involved in it.
If you’re a Celtics fan I’d be very happy where this team is and how far it’s come since the Garnett era ended. I do also think this team is very much the real deal. I also think the city of Boston shouldn’t be thinking about a serious title run until the 2018-19 season.
What do you think? Are the Celtics a contender? Will the Cavs turn it around? Does Anthony Davis get traded? Let us know in the comment section below.
