Marvin Lewis, Out

One of the least successful coaches of our generation is skipping town at the end of the season. Marvin Lewis is a joke of a coach and has done nothing for the Bengals. The news came out that Lewis wasn’t going to come back before the Bengals dropped their third straight game.

The city of Cincinnati finally can thank Marvin Lewis. They can thank him for leaving. Now, he’ll get another job I don’t doubt that but Lewis has to be one of the worst available coaches next season. In 15 seasons Lewis is 123-111… That is an astounding 52% win rate. He has made it to the playoffs 7 times, any guesses on his playoff record? 0-7. Marvin Lewis is 0-7 in the playoffs. I know as a Patriots fan I’m spoiled but holy shit is that bad.

Lewis has been a coach at some capacity since starting as a linebacker coach in 1981 at the age of 23 at Idaho State and he will continue to coach if he decides not to retire.

The big question is who will replace him? An interesting topic that Patriot fans might want to keep an eye on, we know OC Josh McDaniels is a very capable coach and maybe he wants to try and be a HC one last time. I’m not sure if he’d be interested in the Bengals job but if I was Josh it would cross my mind.
